The first hill test added slopes to a mostly level platform. Its shapes were useful for testing momentum, but the broad flat base still dominated the view. The new pass treats the outer royal hillside as a connected piece of ground.
Shape the whole journey.
Broad ridges blend into lower ground, giving a run both climbs and descents. A real valley drops below the old platform level, while the outer banks slope down over broad, walkable flanks. The vertical rock apron has been removed. The spaces between high points belong to the terrain itself.
This is a focused extension of the royal hillside. The original first forest area, Hearthvale town and the kingdom’s castle keep their established layouts. The castle remains the kingdom’s royal home; Hugo’s fortress is a later destination.
Make the ground you see the ground you cross.
The visible terrain and the movement surface share the same height model. That keeps Didga’s footing, landings and downhill momentum tied to the landscape instead of an invisible flat platform underneath it. The reshaped ground uses 3,000 vertices and 5,792 triangles, spanning approximately −10.25 to +4.94 in world height. Only the northern connection stays level where it meets the established castle grounds.
The existing hill movement remains the starting point: run uphill, carry momentum over a crest, jump, and slide where a descent is steep enough. The terrain pass does not add a separate underground level or replace the existing ladder and cave.
Let the details belong to the landscape.
Existing painted terrain textures give the contours their material. Trees and other grounded details in the reshaped area follow the local height, so the scenery reads as one connected place. The approved character and environment images keep their existing artwork; the change is the ground beneath them.
The guided camera from the preceding update remains available, along with manual looking and Free camera. The larger slopes give that view a more varied foreground and horizon.
What the checks establish.
Automated checks: all 665 game checks passed; all 41 selected website and public-package checks passed before the final article review; all 26 article, scoped-preparer and historical-journal checks then passed with this entry verified; 36 focused terrain engine checks and independent Three.js surface raycasts passed; these are engine checks rather than native browser play; 0.31.0 public package contains 209 files; all 109 approved native images keep their existing bytes.
Native browser movement and landscape review: ordinary W/A/S/D events through the actual game input adapter reached the valley at about y −5.7, the southern ridge at about y +4.083, the saddle/crown and the level castle join; all four walking stages stayed grounded without a respawn; a short westward descent entered sliding above 30 degrees; a completed jump retry became airborne and landed grounded on the rising hillside without a respawn; two earlier focus interruptions during jump/idle checks remain recorded; the actual 0.31.0 public package was opened through Try royal hills and visually reviewed with natural grassy foreground banks and no vertical platform wall.
The image above is an actual browser gameplay capture from the reviewed 0.31.0 website package: a 1265-by-712 JPEG screenshot decoded to PNG without cropping, resizing or repainting. It shows the resulting landscape; the separate movement observations establish which routes and interactions were exercised. Software input checks do not establish a fresh test with a physical controller.
