Movement and exploration give a world life. An enemy gives the power gloves a purpose.

The latest 3D build places a Gobma bruiser in the Open Forest clearing. He approaches Didga, warns before a swing, attacks, recovers and reacts when a punch connects.

Make the fight readable.

An amber warning gives the player a moment to step away. Face Gobma and move close enough for a punch to connect. Each attack can deal damage once, rather than draining health every frame.

Didga begins with six hearts, while Gobma has five hit points. Starter punches deal one point of damage; the Breaker gloves deal two. Losing all hearts automatically retries the encounter, and Fight again sets up a rematch.

Keep the character in the world.

The enemy stays a painted sprite in the 3D forest. His front, rear, side and quarter views respond to his heading and the camera, while the scene’s day, dusk, night and lantern colors affect his appearance.

The next animation pass.

The left and right views use authored action frames. Other angles currently use their standing drawings with small movement and impact adjustments. Complete movement, attack, hurt and defeat artwork for every angle is still needed.

This is the first encounter in the Open Forest prototype. Additional enemies, bosses and areas remain future development.
